Competitions to encourage entrepreneurs

The district competition to select the best Entrepreneur of the Year organized by the Youth Affairs and Skills Development Ministry was held in Moneragala recently.

The competition was open to those from the Moneragala district. Food, agriculture, handicrafts and fancy goods were the areas which were taken into consideration for the selection of the best entrepreneurs at district level.

The objective of the competition was to encourage small entrepreneurs and facilitate their contribution to the national economy. After district level competitions, provincial level and national level competitions will be conducted to select the best entrepreneur of the year. Entrepreneurs who secured first, second and third places respectively at the district level will compete for the provincial level competitions. The final competition will be held in Colombo in March 2012.
