Displaced in IDP camps resettled due to bad weather

Displaced persons living in IDP camps in Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu,
Jaffna, Mannar and Polonnaruwa, have been resettled due to bad weather
conditions during the last week, sources at the Disaster Management
Centre (DMC) told the 'Daily News,' yesterday.
According to a report issued by the DMC, over 3,000 persons belonging
to 809 families who had been living in IDP camps on December 25 have
been resettled, he added.
There had been 28 IDP camps which had been established in five
districts due to heavy rains, storms and winds. Most of them have been
established in the Kilinochchi district, numbering 21.
Around 2,520 persons belonging to 679 families in the Kilinochchi
district, 314 persons belonging to 88 families in Mullaitivu district,
113 persons belonging to 29 families in Mannar district, 43 persons
belonging to 11 families and 15 persons belonging to two families in
Polonnaruwa district had been in IDP camps due to bad weather and all of
them have been resettled, the DMC reports added.
Over 35,700 persons have been affected by the heavy rains, winds and
storms.
The DMC's Early Warning Division had said that at present there had
been no serious situation in the weather.
