Land permits for K'nochchi landless - Chandrakumar

Chandrakumar yesterday said that the people of the Killinochchi district
who do not have their own land would be issued with land permits soon.
He said the government could have provided land permits to the
landless people in the district if Tamil National Alliance had not
opposed the move. He was speaking at a ceremony to open seven roads
which were developed by the government costing over Rs. 187 million. The
roads were opened by chairman of Tharunyata Hetak organization and
Hambantota district parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa.
An extent of 10km has been developed in each road and over 10,000
families have benefited by this move.
Chandrakumar said that Hambantota district parliamentarian Rajapaksa
has laid special focus on the Northern Province development particularly
Killinochchi and Mullaitivu districts.
He said that the government cannot develop the North overnight and it
takes time.
Chandrakumar said that the Northern Province has seen massive
development in every field in the aftermath of the war. He said that the
money allocated by the government for Northern development activities
was misused by the terrorists in the past and serious effort is taken by
the government for the development of the Northern Province.
