Children
Have fun
Hello Children,
How are you? I hope you had a fantastic, jolly and merry Christmas.
Are you happy with the gifts Santa brought you? I am sure all you
children who did very well in your third term tests must have got a
special gift from Santa.
You would have made your parents very happy and proud of you.
Christmas Day may have passed but the Christmas feeling is still in
the air. Dear children, we will be saying good bye to this year in a
couple of days. How time flies. The next time I greet you through the
Children’s Page will be in the New Year 2012.
So, how are you spending your holidays? Did you go anywhere for your
holidays? I suppose you are still enjoying them very much and have a lot
of interesting stories to share with us.
Make the most of your holidays.
I know children you would all welcome a break like this as it would
do your tired mind and body a lot of good. So enjoy the rest of your
holidays and have a great time.
Bye for now.
Aunt Anji
A New Year Resolution!
Hi everyone,
The year 2011 is coming to its end. So probably some of you are busy
planning your next year and making your New Year resolutions. Anything
special you want to do in 2012?
If you’re making your New Year resolutions, I would like to suggest
something you could add to your list. (Unless you have already added it
up.) What do you think it is? I think you guessed it right. Make a
resolution to read more and read as much as possible in the coming year.
I introduced so many wonderful books to you this year. If you’ve read
them you would know their value by now, and if you still haven’t read
them you can always read them in your New Year. And you can read any
other book you like as well. As I have told you before also, reading
many different books will bring you so much of knowledge, make you think
deeply about things, improve your language skills, and enhance your
creativity and imagination in so many ways. These will help you a lot
with your school work and your life in general.
I have suggested many ways in which you can gain access to a variety
of books. You probably are aware that books are quite expensive now, and
most of you school going children don’t earn. A very good way of finding
many books to read is joining a not so expensive library like a public
library or your school library. (I know sometimes they don’t have a good
variety.) You can also exchange books with your friends. Always remember
to take good care of the books you borrow and return them safely to the
owner. Never tear papers off or fold pages of books that don’t belong to
you. If you want to make notes, make your notes on a notebook with the
page numbers. If you have something interesting to say and wish to share
it with other readers, who will read the same book later, maybe you can
use a pencil to write down what you want. Sometimes it’s nice to see
what other people have thought about the book; they could have very
interesting things to say, but sometimes you may not like it. Never
scribble on books if the owner doesn’t like it. We have to be thankful
to the person who lent it to us, so make sure you give it back in good
condition.
I think these days are special to many school children. Some of the
older ones sat for the Ordinary Level examination. Cut off marks of the
Grade Five scholarship exam and Advanced Level results have been
released. It’s also the Christmas and New Year season, and in the New
Year you will be in a new grade, a new class, maybe with new friends.
You will learn new things. So if you’re planning to buy any gifts for
your friends, siblings or relatives, maybe you could buy a good book. A
gift of a book would be good for the birthdays coming up next year as
well. So, if you’re planning to spend some money why don’t you spend it
on books?
Hope you would read a lot in the coming year and grow up to be a very
well read person one day! HAPPY 2012!

Christmas
Blue bells ringing
And the sound is blowing
Flying so high
Hoping to reach the sky
Why is it trying
To reach the sky
Why does the jingle bell voice
Speaks to the sky
Oh! it invites the snow
To come down to the floor
And to hide the world
Under its cold whiteness
Trees wear white coats
And the blue streams
Change their veils into white
Snowflakes coming down,
In a big hurry
Using their magic
To make everywhere
With white
Making everyone smile
The cold wind says
“Hey its ‘Christmas time”
