Lanka targets US $ 10 b in exports

The Sri Lanka Export Development Board is optimistic of reaching US $
10 billion in export revenue by the end of this year.
This number would surpass the EDB?s anticipated US $ 9.2 billion
export revenue target for 2011 .
Accordingly, exports of agricultural products, textiles and garments,
petroleum products, beverage sector have recorded impressive 11%, 25%,
150% and 42% growth rates by October this year.
The export of wooden products, paper products and finished rubber
products also posted 22%, 55% and 60% growth rates respectively for the
same period, Export Development Board Chairman Janaka Ratnayake said
yesterday.
