Vote on committee stage debate today

The vote on the committee stage debate on the Appropriation Bill will be held in Parliament from 5 p.m today.

The budget proposals were presented in Parliament on November 21 by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Finance and Planning Minister. The second stage reading vote was taken up on November 30.

The second reading of the Appropriation Bill was passed with a majority of 91 votes. One hundred and fifty one voted in favour while 60 voted against. The committee stage debate commenced on December 1.
