The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has been
requested to name their nominees for the Parliamentary Select
Committee, which will be entrusted with formulating a solution to
the grievances of communities. However, the TNA has so far not
obliged. ‘They are proving to be as difficult as the LTTE in talks,
adopting the same negative tactics, President Mahinda Rajapaksa told
the monthly breakfast meeting with newspaper Editors at Temple Trees
yesterday.

Vote on committee stage debate today
The vote on the committee stage debate on the
Appropriation Bill will be held in Parliament from 5 p.m today. The
budget proposals were presented in Parliament on November 21 by
President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Finance and
Planning Minister.
