Loss-making CFHC sees turn around

"The Ceylon Fisheries Harbour Corporation (CFHC) which was a
non-profitable venture is now progressing as a profitable institution
while reducing its loss and increasing its income by 43 percent this
year.
"All measures are in place to develop all fisheries harbours which
belong to the CFHC as profitable harbours by the end of next year," said
CFHC Managing Director Lal Samarasinghe.
According to the Managing Director, the CFHC recorded over a Rs.1.83
million loss in April 2010.
The loss had decreased to Rs.0.9 million in May,2010 and it had
earned over Rs.5.90 million profit in June last year.
"Currently, they have earned a profit of over Rs.97.40 million and
this progress is reported under the guidance of Fisheries and Aquatic
Resources Development Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratne," he said.
"There are 21 fisheries harbours in the country and 15 of them have
been developed to a profitable level and it is hoped to make the other
fisheries harbours profitable ventures by the end of 2012, Samarasinghe
further added.
