Madushan and Devanji most valuable players

Madushan Sooriyabandara of Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala and Devanji
Perera of Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya have been awarded the boys’ and
girls’ Most Valuable Player trophies respectively in the recently
concluded Udayanga Bandara Memorial Novices Table Tennis Championship.

The tournament has been conducted by the North Western Province Table
Tennis Association at the Sputnik International stadium, Kurunegala and
was confined to NWP paddlers.
Madushan clinched a double crown by winning under-15 and under-12
singles. Devanji also won two championships, under-18 and girls Novices
event while emerging Runner-up in the Intermediate championship. Devanji
was humbled by her fellow school mate Shanilka Jinadasa in the
Intermediate final. Maliyadeva boys and girls dominated the tournament
by winning most of the events.
