Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody yesterday urged against converting
Parliament into a Kolam Madu, when DNA MP Ajith Kumara protested in
front of the Chair displaying a poster requesting that he be allocated
time to speak even though the time allocated for the DNA had lapsed.
The DNA MP protested during the committee stage debate on the
Appropriation Bill under the finance heads of the Defence and Urban
Development Ministry just after Chief Government Whip and Water Supply
and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardena concluded his speech.
At this stage, MP Ajith Kumara requested to allot a time for him to
speak. Then the Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody and Sergeant-at-Arms
Anil Parakrama Samarasekera intervened and separated the two members.
Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody appealed against converting this
august assembly in to a Kolam Madu.
He also added members could express their views verbally. |
