Squash Nationals begin today

Sri Lanka Squash Federation (SLSF) will conduct the 31st National Squash Championship from December 19 to 22 at Sri Lanka Air Force Squash Complex, Ratmalana. SLSF expects that most of the top ranked players including some players who are overseas presently will vie for the title this year.

The president of SLSF Commodore Palitha Weerasinghe mentioned that there could be some major upsets in tournament results as many young potential players such as Binara Jayasooriya, Gihan Suwaris, Eranga Alwis, Yasir Issadeen, Kasun Abeysekara, Dilshan Gunawardana and Ravindu Laksiri are expected to give a tough time for champion players like Saman Thilakarathne and Navin Samarasinghe during this tournament.

The entries closed at 5 pm on Saturday, December 17. The grand final will be played at 5 pm Thursday, December 22 at Ratmalana Air Force Squash Complex.

The SLSF Executive Committee, all squash players and enthusiasts were provided with a busy schedule of ranking tournaments during the last four months.
