Peradeniya freshers cannot endure ragging

A large number of freshers from the Peradeniya University have sought transfers to another university citing that they cannot tolerate ragging in the university. According to Higher Education Ministry sources, the ministry has received such requests from many universities but the highest number of requests are from the Peradeniya university.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has initiated investigations into the ragging incidents at the Peradeniya University. Sources said that Vice Chancellors and the academic staffers of universities attempted to prevent the freshers from being ragged with the commencement of academic activities of universities.
