Bus skids injuring 30

Thirty passengers were injured when a private bus plying from Moneragala to Colombo, skidded and crashed into a building at Kinkini Junction, Ratnapura yesterday morning, the Police said.

The bus driver and a passenger were critically injured while the others, two females and 26 males, were admitted to Ratnapura hospital. Meanwhile a private bus travelling from Warakapola to Horton Plains fell off a steep cliff at Vijaya junction, three Kms away from Pattipola injuring 15 passengers on the same day. They were admitted to Nuwara Eliya hospital. Among the passengers were a group of teachers and their family members.

Police said that the mist and slippery conditions of the road had resulted in the accident.
