Bringing past back to life
The Gateway College history museum:
The History department of Gateway College continues to bring the past
back to life in the present, as it launches yet newer and better
monuments.
Beginning from the newly renovated history museum, its unique
building structure along with the artifacts, models of monuments around
the world and life-like wall paintings, the history museum takes you on
an expedition to the past.
The history department has always ensured pleasant learning
conditions for all history students.
A look to the sides would mean enthralling sights of paintings,
models and artifacts ranging from two sides of the world to different
eras in time, while an upward glance would give you a firsthand view of
the seven continents by the novel world map suspended from the blue sea
of the roof. To further enhance academic learning a recent project was
launched. All embassies and high commissions in Sri Lanka and India were
contacted by letter, and in response, the history department received
several rare and valuable documents and books from around the world.
This was a tedious task, but has in turn led to the creation of a unique
mini-library that makes available a new wealth of knowledge. Getting
involved with the history department and visiting the history museum
would allow you to travel around the world and gain a historical
experience just while sitting in one place. All these projects were
directed by the head of the history department, Anthony Chelliah.
The history room itself was opened on June 4, 2006 by the founder of
Gateway College, RIT Alles.Immense support was given by the director of
Gateway College, Dr. Harsha Alles and his wife, Dinali Alles. Without
their corporation, the history museum would have never been able to
attain such a great amount of success. |
