Cantaloupe expands with more space
Colombo’s newest fashion lifestyle department store Cantaloupe
Boutique entered into Phase II of its development plan, when it doubled
its floor space at their Galle Face Court outlet. Cantaloupe Director
said their main aim is to promote local products mainly to foreigners
and the high end clientele.
“Over 90 percent of our products sold at our boutiques are local thus
giving local entrepreneurs a brand identity and also a premium price,”
he said. He also commented that the local products including their own
jewellery collection are of very high standard and several foreign
clients ask if they are really Sri Lankan products.

He also said that some of these products are not available in other
department stores and a customer could find ‘exclusives’ at their store.
“After two years, Cantaloupe’s business model has proven to be a
success, which has subsequently led the stakeholders to set in motion
the grand expansion plan of Cantaloupe & Co,” Founder and Managing
Director, Dimitri Jayasuriya said.
The long-term plan for the boutique is to develop it into a lifestyle
umbrella outlet where people can come shop, eat, drink and socialize.
Cantaloupe also eventually hopes to expand this concept to multiple
locations throughout the city.
Cantaloupe Boutique is testament to Cantaloupe’s design ethos of
adapting beautiful spaces by injecting its values and lifestyle into it.
Cantaloupe Boutique is not simply a one-off space that is aesthetically
pleasing; it brings together like- minded brands and retailers that
each, in someway or another, embody the spirit, beauty and lifestyle of
Cantaloupe. Cantaloupe Boutique is a stylish establishment that has been
modelled according to a department store concept; retailing an eclectic
selection of high-end Sri Lankan designer products.
