SLIIT seminar
The Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) will
conduct a public seminar detailing future trends in Information
Technology, academic pathways provided by the institute and job
opportunities available to prospective students in today’s competitive
IT landscape on December 14.
The seminar, which will be held from 10 am - 12 noon at SLIIT’s Metro
Campus (15th Floor) - Colombo 3, will give parents and prospective
students a valuable opportunity to choose the degree pathway that best
suits students’ academic goals.
The keynote speaker at the event is Professor Klaus Schmidt, visiting
lecturer from the Institute of Technology, College of Applied Science
and Technology - Illinois State University, USA and visiting Fulbright
Senior Specialist at SLIIT.
Students will also gain insight to SLIIT’s three-year B.Sc (IT)
degree Programme of study.
Students who successfully complete the two year Diploma in
Information Technology degree at SLIIT have the option of completing the
B.Sc IT degree (IT Specialization) or B.Sc IT degree (Interactive
Multimedia Technology specialization) at SLIIT or at several of SLIIT’s
foreign partner Universities in the UK, USA and Australia.
The newly introduced Multimedia Technology degree programme will be
part of SLIIT’s Information Technology major and will provide
specialisation in graphic design, multimedia and animation streams.
Prof Schmidt said Sri Lanka has a strong market potential for growth
in the area of multimedia technology and SLIIT is well positioned to
prepare its Information Technology students for jobs in that expanding
field. |
