Jewels 2011 gem exhibition on December 17 and 18
The Gemmologists Association of Sri Lanka (GASL) the only
professional organization in the gem trade will hold their annual Gem
Exhibition Jewels 2011 on December 17 and 18 at the BMICH SBMEC
Auditorium.
This will be an exhibition of gems, minerals, jewellery and
gemmological equipment.
The main aim of this exhibition is to enhance the knowledge on
various aspects of gems and gemmology.
This year too, there are competitions to select the Best Cut
Gemstone, Gem Studded Jewellery, Crystal and Gemmological Photograph
Gemmologists Association of Srilanka President Ruzwan Kamil said.
The Principal sponsor of this event is the National Gem and Jewellery
Authority. Thus enabling GASL to a achieve its goal of bringing
Gemmology out of textbooks and making it a real time experience to the
people of Sri Lanka.
Jewels 2011 will enable one to observe, buy and test all types of
Gems and Jewellery under one roof. There will also be heat treatment
demonstrations, modern and traditional gem cutting in action which will
be a great experience to Chairman Jewels 2011 organizing committee Geeth
Gunathilake said.
The main specialty in the show is that every visitor will be a proud
owner of a valuable gemstone with a purchase of an entrance ticket to a
nominal fee of 100 rupees.
Even though being a nonprofit making body, the association spends’ a
lot of money for this with the help of its well wishers, to enhance the
enthusiasm and the knowledge of the public on gems.
This event is expected to attract a large crowd of gem enthusiasts,
gem dealers, jewellers, lapidarists, collectors, students and the
