The company's carbon emission reduction program commenced as part of
EPSI's initiatives towards good Corporate and Environmental Citizenship.
The objective is to take responsibility for the company's actions and
encourage a positive impact through its activities on the environment,
consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and all other members of
the public sphere.
EPSI Founder and CEO Niranjan Canagasooryam said "We see 'going
green' and sustainability as a critical part of EPSI's ethics and
values. Not only can green business practices and processes help protect
the environment, but also helps a company improve its bottom line.
A business that makes the decision to be environmentally-conscious
will often promote goodwill among potential customers, while making the
world a better place for future generations," he said.
"The drive to position Sri Lanka as a destination for environmentally
sustainable IT is definitely underway," The Carbon Consulting Company
COO Sanith de S. Wijeyeratne said.
"More companies in this sector are choosing to totally offset their
carbon footprint, while taking action to adopt the mitigation strategies
to achieve long-term sustainability.
"This is response to the growing demand from increasingly well
informed and ecologically conscious customers worldwide, that the
technology services that are offered are carried out in a sustainable
manner," he said.
Founded in 1990 and headquartered at Galle Road, Colombo 3, EPSI
Computers has expanded rapidly diversifying into the marketing and
distribution of an array of highly advanced IT and Communication
