Special train for school vacation

The Sri Lanka Railways has planned to operate an intercity train service from Colombo Fort to Bandarawela to cater to local tourists during the school vacation season.

The train which will include an observation car, three second class compartments and a second class braking compartment will operate according to the following timetable, said Railways Commercial Manager P W S Sisira Kumara.

Timetable

Leaving Colombo Fort at 9.15 am and reaching Bandarawela station at 5.20 pm on December 11, 12, 15, 17, 19, 22, 24, 26, 29 and 31 with stopovers at Polgahawela, Peradeniya, Gampola, Nawalapitiya, Hatton, Kotagala, Talawakele, Watagoda, Nanu Oya, Ambewela, Pattipola, Ohiya, Idalgashinna, Haputale and Diyatalawa.

The train from Bandarawela to Colombo Fort will leave Bandarawela at 6.40 am and reach Colombo Fort at 2.25 pm with stopovers at Diyatalawa, Haputale, Ohiya, Ambewela, Nanu Oya, Great Western, Talawakele, Hatton, Kotagala, Nawalapitiya, Gampola, Peradeniya, Polgahawela and Veyangoda stations.

The observation car will not be available in the train on December 10 and 11.
