Thieves break open ATM machine, Rs 6.6 m stolen
Thieves who broke open an Automated Teller
Machine (ATM) of the Bank of Ceylon, Kantale branch stole Rs.6.6
million, Police Spokesman SP Ajith Rohana told the Daily News. The
ATM had been broken open between 8 pm Thursday and 8am yesterday
when the bank was closed, SP Rohana said.

Police nab chain snatcher near Kalutara Bodhiya
Kalutara Police nabbed a chain snatcher
operating near the Colombo bus stand close to the Kalutara Bodhiya
on Thursday noon. The suspect had snatched a chain worth Rs 38,000
from a female near the bus stand and ran away, the Police said.
