CFC a profitable venture soon - chairman

"The Ceylon Fisheries Corporation (CFC) which was a non-profitable venture is now progressing as a profitable institution reducing its loss to Rs 23 million this year. All measures are in place to develop CFC as a profitable institution by the end of next year," said CFC chairman Maheel Senaratne.

According to the chairman, the CFC recorded an over Rs 103 million loss. "It had decreased to Rs 59 million in 2010 and this year it had come down to Rs 23 million. This progress is reported under the guidance of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratne," he said.

"The CFC had not taken any money from the Treasury or Fisheries Ministry for maintenance," he said.
