Market dull
Market ended in flat yesterday where both indices closed with
marginal losses. ASI lost 1.60 index points (-0.03%) to close at
6,027.19 and more sensitive MPI closed at 5,248.97, down 0.81 index
points (-0.02%).
Market turnover stood at Rs 517 mn Distilleries Plc (Rs 69.5mn) made
the top contribution to the market turnover followed by John Keells
Holdings (Rs 31 mn) and Asian Hotels and Properties (Rs 30.9 mn). Single
crossing was made in Distilleries Plc, where 458,040 shares changed
hands at a price of Rs 150.00 per share. Further, Dunamis Capital,
Orient Garments and HVA Foods were among the heavily traded counters of
the day. Foreign participation was relatively high and it accounted for
23.6% of the total market activity.
At the end of the day foreign investors were net sellers with a net
