Dialog bags Twitter account verification

Dialog Axiata PLC has become the first corporate entity in Sri Lanka to attain verification by social networking and microblogging service 'Twitter' which allows organizations or individuals to engage with followers.

Twitter is an online social networking and microblogging service that enables its users to send and read text based posts, informally known as tweets, of up to 140 characters. Dialog Axiata was officially verified by Twitter on December 01, 2011.

Dialog Axiata, with over 2,000 GSM and 1,200 3G base stations and growing is the largest mobile service provider and one of the largest ICT based solutions providers in the island joined Twitter on September 29, 2008, was one of the first Sri Lankan brands on the social network.

Currently there are 4,000 subscribers that follow Dialog Axiata on Twitter.

In just five years since its inception Twitter has registered over 300 million users as of 2011, generating over 300 million tweets and handling over 1.6 billion search queries per day.
