WTC launches Seat-in-Coach Tours

World Travel Centre (WTC) with the support of the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises in Tourism Sri Lanka (ASMET) launched the Seat-in-Coach Tours to the local travel industry at a ceremony, held in Colombo.

The president of ASMET Sri Lanka, Suresh De Mel, in his welcome address explained the encouragement given to its members in achieving their goals in the development of tourism industry.

ASMET played an active role from the initial stages of this project which is an ambitious step towards the future of the entire leisure industry in Sri Lanka, World Travel Centre, as a member of ASMET, takes a bold step by starting the first SIC Group Tour on Saturday, 26th November from Colombo.

The Sri Lanka Tourism Director General, Vipula Wanigasekera was the chief guest.

Sensing a lot of potential out of the new product, Wanigasekera assured the fullest support from Sri Lanka Tourism and requested long-lasting support from the entire tourism industry for a product that would drive the booming leisure industry towards the future making Sri Lanka more competitive.

Delivering his speech, Nilmin Nanayakkara, The President of SLAITO said that we as a country requires such services offered in other popular tourist destinations and urged the members of SLAITO to extend their maximum support.

Presenting the concept of 'Scheduled Coach Tour', Sudharma De Silva of World Travel Centre, welcomed individuals or families to join these tours to travel in one coach as a group.

SIC Tours is a favourite choice of the present day international traveller, it is available in all the popular tourist destinations of the world including countries in the Asian region such as India, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore.

With a range of different tour options available for tourist to join-in, SIC Tours could be booked at short notice and could decide on the tour itinerary according to time and budget available. Being able to travel with a group, services of experienced guides and possibility of selecting the category of hotel makes SIC Tours an attractive and 'traveller friendly' product offered at a budget price compared to the regular private tours, De Silva further explained.

With the beginning of a new era in which the local tourism industry has definitely shifted its path to an 'expressway' towards the future, revolutionizing products such as Air Taxi, Luxury Trains and Caravans is gradually introduced to the industry.

Joining these products of the new generation SIC Tours would certainly lead Sri Lanka to reach the targets of handling millions of tourists compared to 500,000 or 600,000 which marked our past track record and would help Sri Lanka to reach for a new portion from the international tourist market.

Tours will be operated covering the main tourist attractions and places of interest in Sri Lanka with one day tours to Kandy, Galle and Kitulgala. Multiple day tours, are available in different packages starting from 3 to 6 nights, would cover Jaffna, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya, Dambulla, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Pinnawela, Bentota and Colombo according to the tour selected.
