Watapuluwa Village Playground of Kandy emerged champions and Watarantenna Playgrounds became runners-up at the five-a-side rugby tournament concluded on December 3 at the Aruppola Municipal playgrounds, organized by the sports department of the Kandy Municipal Council. 27 teams participated and the former national rugby player Nihal Ananda assisted by R G Wijewardena and S P G Vithanage all of the sports department of the Kandy Municipality organized this meet.

In the semi-finals Wattarantenna Playgrounds beat Mawilmada Playgrounds to enter the finals (10-5) and at the other semi-final Watapuluwa Village Playgrounds beat Katugastota Community Center to enter the finals (10-5). Third place was won by Katugastota Community Centre beating Mawilmada Playgrounds (5-nil).

Sanjeewa Hulangamuwa, Chairman of the sports committee of the Kandy Municipality gave away the prizes.
