STF seizes cannabis, illict liqour

A stock of cannabis worth Rs 75,000 was seized at Katupilagama in Thanamalwila by Udawalawa STF officers on Saturday. Acting on a tip off , CI Ananda Premasiri and a team waited for a motorcycle at a cross road in Katupilagama when the rider escaped after seeing the police officers. The STF found five kilos of cannabis hidden in the abandoned motorcycle.

Udawalawa police are investigating. Meanwhile Aralaganwila STF officers arrested a suspect with cannabis worth Rs 32,200 at Weheragala in Polonnaruwa on Friday.

The suspect was handed over to Aralaganwila police for further investigations.

STF officers in Kegalla, Kandy, Killinochchi and Mullaitivu seized a large stock of illicit liquor in several places and arrested five suspects on Friday.

The apprehended stock was estimated at Rs 77,000 and the suspects were handed over to relevant police stations.
