Navy assists trawler in distress

Sri Lanka Navy assisted a multi-day fishing trawler - Aradana, which had been stranded in the Northern seas due to engine failure.

It was safely brought ashore into the Kankesanthurai harbour on December 1, along with its crew. Arrangements were made for the trawler to head home on completion of its repairs. The trawler had left for fishing from Ambalangoda and found itself stranded at sea for 72 days due to an engine failure.

The vessel had been drifting towards land by the time it was detected by another Sri Lankan trawler, ‘Yasa Isuru 10’, approximately 47 nautical miles from Kankesanthurai.

The five-member crew was found to be in healthy condition and they extended their gratitude to the Sri Lankan Navy for the timely assistance rendered.
