English Premier League:
The Potters and Baggies
SAMAHA ISMATH ALI - Stoke City
The Britannia Stadium blares with mad Stoke City fans as the side
displays their Red Blasts every weekend. The Stadium attracts a large
crowd as the side is popular among their own kind. The lads in red and
white have experienced a ride through a bumpy road all these years, for
they have not had such a glamorous history compared to other clubs.

However, Stoke City has the football world a short distance away due
to their defence and careful aiming ability. They possess a strong side
which truly appreciates the talent of each player, and extracts the
maximum of each player's abilities on the field. This owes to the fact
that each player is different from the other.
Stoke City players are all different-each player has his unique
ability and skill. Their defence is exemplary, and Manager Tony Pulis is
extremely proud of his trustworthy defender Robert Huth.
The 27 year old German footballer was introduced into the side in
August 2009, and has been the Best defender still. Huth has been trained
under the care of Chelsea Youth football, as he had joined their
under-17 side, and then went on to join Middlesbrough.
He was bought for a sum of £5m from his former club and shone with
colours at his debut game against Sunderland in 2009 and replaced Dave
Kitson as striker for the side.
Stoke City's best player was recently bought from Tottenham
Hotspur-Peter Crouch. The 30 year old Englishman was bought for a sum of
£10m. He has played for many Premier League clubs such as Queens Park
Rangers, Portsmouth, Liverpool, and Southampton. His powerful heading
ability is due to his height-he is 6.7 feet tall! This enables him to
score excellent goals and has made him one of the most sought-after
players in the Premier League. The lucky footballer replaced Emile
Heskey in the World Cup squad for England. The versatile footballer has
been eyed by many football pundits as an exceptional player whose goals
are tough to block.
'The Potters', as they are widely known, are currently 12th on the
League table. Back in the 2010-11 season, Stoke were 13th on the table,
and this has disappointed Manager Tony Pulis greatly, for he wanted a
series of victory for the side. However, The Potters plan on making a
comeback by Christmas, when the entire football world expects good and
tough games from both sides. This wish has set Stoke fans in a good mood
after the side had won only four games out of thirteen matches this
season. This has also cheered up others, including football pundits, who
feared the side would get relegated. Let the entire football world see
how the Potters start their victory line and how the entire Premier
League WILL be shocked...
West Bromwich Albion
The Stripes, as the side is known, were founded in 1878 and were
brought into the main Premier League following their success along with
Newcastle United. The Manager role of the club is now being played by
Roy Hodgson, an experienced and trustworthy mentor for the side. The
team hails from their home ground, the Hawthorns, and are proud to say
that they were promoted into the league after a year of success at their
former League.
The squad comprises of a talented set of players, starting from Chris
Brunt, the team Captain. The 26-year old stands as the attacking
midfielder of the side, and is an Irishman, with all his football skills
intact.
He joined Sheffield Wednesday in 2004, and was trained by the side
for his bright future. He was then sold to West Brom in 2007 for £3m.
He is also one of the most important players in the Irish squad, and
has joined the team for their tournaments as well as the World Cup.
Their goalkeeper is ultra-special. Ben Foster had been raised by
Manchester United as a professional goalkeeper, and was then sold to
Everton.
It was from Everton that Foster was granted on loan to the Stripes.
He is an excellent keeper, and knows all the tricks in the field of
saving goals.
West Brom's logo is definitely a question in everyone's minds-what is
s bird doing there? It is indeed the symbol of the side and it is
through this that they get another well-known nickname-the Throstles.
The players are not chicken, for they have a good temper hidden under
ruffles of wings which are filled with football talent.
West Brom are 13th on the League table, and Manager Roy Hodgson has
decided on promoting the team's performances by making them a strong
side and making them relive the past they basked in. Though this may
seem like a hard task, West Brom have got the confidence in themselves
to win the game, and bring back their lost glory.
This strenuous task can be achieved and the dream come true with the
side's truly amazing players. The path is not easy, but all can be
achieved with patience and endurance, with a measure of overtime
practice! |
