Sri Lanka meet Bhutan in first game today

Sri Lanka will be looking forward to clear their first hurdle in a successful note at the South Asian Football Federation Cup tournament at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi today.

They will meet Bhutan in the first game scheduled for this evening (6.00pm). Sri Lanka are at the 176th slot in the world football rankings while Bhutan are far behind, in the 198th slot. According to the historical stats, Bhutan are far behind the Lankan lions. Sri Lanka have won all three matches against Bhutan which they have played earlier.

In the 2009 SAFF tournament, Sri Lanka recorded a brilliant 6-0 win over Bhutan at the Bangabandhu stadium in Bangladesh. Sri Lanka also defeated Bhutan in 2008 (2-0) and 2006 (1-0). Bhutan has never scored against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka coach Jang Jung said yesterday that Sri Lanka team looking for a win to start the tournament in a colourful note.
