Latvia-SL relations to a greater height

Latvian Consul General in Sri Lanka Thomas Daetwyler said that enhanced economic cooperation between Sri Lanka and Lavia will take the bilateral relations to a greater height.

He said that the partnership based political relation between Sri Lanka and Latvia will set an example for further enhancing the relations between the two countries.

Daetwyler was speaking at a reception hosted by the Lavian Consulate in Sri Lanka to mark the national day of Latvia at Jaic Hilton hotel recently. He said that the relationship between the two countries has deepened over the past years and he said he hoped that relations will further grow.

The consul general said that Latvia has developed sound relations with the neighbouring countries at various levels by becoming members of a number of regional organizations.

He said the country marks 93 years of independence, which was interrupted from 1940 for 50 years during occupation.

Daetwyler said that Lavia aims to explore more avenues to build closer relations between the two countries.

National Language and Social Integration Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara spoke on behalf of the government of Sri Lanka. Parliamentarians and members of the diplomatic corp were also present .
