'MP cant's make another speech according to Standing Orders'
Deputy Chairman of Committees Chandrakumar Murugesu, who was
presiding in the House when TNA MP S. Sritharan stood up to speak during
the Budget debate, did not allow the MP to make his speech observing
that the MP was speaking for the second time during the Budget debate.
When TNA MP Sritharan commenced his speech, Water Supply and Drainage
Minister and Chief Government Whip Dinesh Gunawardena raising a point of
order stated that MP Sritharan contributed to the budget debate last
Friday and therefore according to Standing Orders, the member cannot
make another speech during the same budget debate. The Deputy Chairman
of Committees stated that the MP could not proceed with his speech
