The GT Radial Champiro ECO is manufactured with reduced carbon emissions by the Indonesian manufacturer PT Gajah Tunggal Tbk and has been recognized by the Indonesian Record Body (MURI) as the first eco friendly tyre produced by an Indonesian manufacturer.

The eco friendly tyre is a new generation innovation and introducing it to the local market marks a milestone in the transportation sector. This will change the mindset of the motorists thus having a positive impact on the environment sustainability, Douglas and Sons (Pvt) Ltd (DSL) Chairman and Managing Director Saroj Perera said.

"Creating the right environment is purely in our hands and it is our will and attitude that will determine the fate of the environment. We are therefore delighted that as a responsible business entity, DSL has been able to create value to our stakeholders through this new introduction of GT Radial Champiro ECO. This reaffirms our commitment towards innovative, progressive and responsible business practices that help sustainable living, he said.

Using Nanotek Silica technology, the tyre produces very low rolling resistance. This result in low heat generation, increased tyre life and saving on fuel. The combination of all these factors make the new tyre a truly environmental friendly product.

The GT Radial Champiro ECO already meets the EU tyre regulations including noise emission regulations that will come into effect in 2012. In Addition, the tread's new silica based tread compound reduces heat development and provides high grip levels on wet surfaces. As a result the tyre promises an overall outstanding performance with a high level of comfort and safety while driving.

The tyre is available in sizes ranging from 12 to 16 inches and provides the need of replacement for a majority of vehicle types. The eco friendly tyre is available at all DSL dealers islandwide, on a budget that suits the customers' purse.

The Indonesian manufacturer PT Gajah Tunggal Tbk is the largest tyre manufacturer in South East Asia.
