JKOA Service Provider Convention 2011
JKOA held its annual Service Provider Convention recently at Excel
World, where service providers from all parts of Sri Lanka were invited
for a performance review during the past year.
The event started off with a friendly game of bowling as a team
building exercise, which was followed by a performance review
presentation and the awards ceremony which recognized and rewarded the
best performing service providers. System Solution was awarded the best
service provider for 2011 while Copy Land Technologies was given the
special award for 2011. Other awards included up and coming service
provider and best service provider technician. A unique feature of this
event was the sharing of winning strategies by the award winners.
Airtel's Hat‚ Kathawa shines at Effies 2011
Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with
operations in 19 countries across Asia and Africa, yesterday announced
that its Hat‚ Kathawa campaign in Sri Lanka has bagged the Silver award
at the Effie Awards 2011 held in Colombo. Airtel Lanka was the only
brand to be ranked as a winner in the telecommunications services
industry.
Airtel Lanka Head- Brand and Communication Charith de Chickera said,
"Airtel's Hat‚ Kathawa campaign reinforces our brand's focus on offering
services that are innovative, affordable and relevant for the discerning
mobile customer in Sri Lanka. We are thrilled that this idea and
creative insight has resonated well with our youthful and
'young-at-heart' audience in the masses. Bagging a Silver at the
prestigious Effies this year is an exciting acknowledgement of the
success brand Airtel achieved through this campaign - and we look
forward to creating many more of such opportunities to strike a chord
with our customers in Sri Lanka."
Launched in mid April 2011 with a promising online campaign on
Facebook and YouTube, the media plan for Airtel's Hat‚ Kathawa campaign
further expanded to communication on TV, radio, print and outdoor. This
was supported by BTL activities to drive the message at a trade level.
Alcatel Lucent's APAC President in town
President of Alcatel-Lucent's Asia Pacific region and a member of the
management committee, Rajeev Singh-Molares, will be in Sri Lanka on a
brief visit. Molares' visit to Sri Lanka is aimed at further enhancing
the collaboration and partnership with the company's local customer
base.
Having joined Alcatel-Lucent in 2009 as Chief Strategy Officer, he is
responsible for overseeing the company's APAC business including China
and India; Molares is also vice chairman of Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell
- a Chinese government joint venture. In 2011 he was appointed Chairman
of the World Economic Forum Global ICT Agenda Council.
