Man wanted

The Media Centre for National Security has offered a reward of Rs 1 million for any information to help arrest this person named Cader Mohideen Mohamed Azmeer who is wanted in connection with several organized crimes including the large scale racket involving the sale of heroin. Any information can be given to 011-2662311, 011-2431428, 011-2662323 or 011-2437156.


Duo possessing firearms in custody

Two suspects were arrested by the Udapussellawa police at Madulla and Rupaha on Monday afternoon for being in possession of illegal firearms and ammunition. Police seized a small gun which can accommodate T-56 ammunition, six T-56 ammunition, a 12 bore gun, three refilled 12 bore cartridges and 12 spent 12 bore cartridges from their possession. The suspects were produced before the Walapone magistrate.


Man in robes had 3 kg of cannabis

A person in robes who had three kilogrammes of cannabis in his possession was arrested by the Kobeigane police at Yakadapatha around 1 pm on Monday.

The suspect was produced before the Nikaweratiya magistrate.


Housemaid arrested on arrival

A Sri Lankan housemaid who was returning after a stint in Cyprus for a period of one year, was arrested by the Airport Police as she arrived at the Katunayake Airport on Monday, following complaints that she had defrauded several Sri Lankan job aspirants for a sizeable sum of money by getting them to transfer the money to her account through bank accounts.

She was produced before the Negombo magistrate. Investigations are continuing.


Police recover robbed mobiles

Moratuwa police arrested a suspect during an operation conducted in Katubedda and recovered 21 robbed mobile phones he had mortgaged to several persons and places.

The suspect was produced in court.


Illegal phone exchange operator arrested

A suspect who operated an illegal telephone exchange to transfer foreign calls to local customers by obtaining them through the internet was arrested by police Western Province North Crimes Division at Sri Wickrama Mawatha, Wattala, on Sunday.

Police also seized the equipment used. He was produced before the Wattala Magistrate and remanded till November 28. Police investigations are continuing.


Illegal gem miners nabbed

Ingiriya Central Group - Priyadarshani Kahawala

Special Task Force (STF), Horana raided four illegal gem mining locations in Nivithigala, Dala, Ve ganga and arrested 16 suspects with a large stock of gem mining equipment including a diesel engine with silencers, compressors, mamoties, cane baskets etc.
