Successful raids, operations:

CEB recovers over Rs 18.5 m in fines

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Flying Squad officials have recovered over Rs 18.5 million by way of fines in successful raids and operations conducted during the month of October this year.

Over 238 cases of misuse of electricity have been reported during the month of October.

They included 177 incidents of tampering with power meters and 61 illegal connections as well, according to the Ministry of Power and Energy.

Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka, stressed the vital need to eliminate all malpractices, corruptions and brands within and outside the Ceylon Electricity Board, to meterialize plans for making the CEB a profit making ventures.

If any person misuses power, it can be intimated to the CEB through 2422259, a media release of the Ministry of Power and Energy further added.
