Tree planting, social service activities to mark President's B'day

A number of social service activities including the planting of 3,000 trees to mark the birthday and the assumption of duties for the second term President by President Mahinda Rajapaksa have been organized by the Kumarasiri Hettige Foundation.

Accordingly, planting of trees and donation of wheelchairs to disabled persons will be held on November 18 at Kotapola and Pitabeddara Divisional Secretariat Divisions in Deniyaya.

The inaugural ceremony will be held at 8.30 a.m tomorrow at National School, Kotapola presided over by Parliamentary Affairs Secretary to the President, Kumarasiri Hettige.

Ironwood (Naa), Margosa (Kohomba) and Kumbuk plants will be planted at Waralla, Morawaka, Beralapanatara, Pitabeddara and Deniyaya with the assistance of the Touchwood Company Ltd. Meanwhile, the Kumarasiri Hettige Foundation will facilitate a group of seniors from Rattanapitiya in Nugegoda numbering over one hundred to make offerings to the Temple of the Tooth Relic.
