Ministry to commission eight power supply schemes

The Power and Energy Ministry stated that the newly completed eight
power supply schemes in Ampara, Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts
will be commissioned at a series of functions from today until Thursday
under the patronage of Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika
Ranawaka.
Minister Ranawaka implemented several electricity development
projects to supply electricity for all parts of the country and
"Nagenahira Navodaya" is one of them. Newly built power supply schemes
comes under the "Nagenahira Navodaya" programme.
In addition to these power supply schemes Kanthale Samagi Wewa
electricity project and another electricity project will also be handed
over to the public and the ministry had allocated around Rs seven
million on these two projects. These projects will provide electricity
for 60 families.
Minister Ranawaka will hand over the Koralepaththu North Ammadanaweli
power supply scheme, Walachchenai Karuwakarthi and Walachchenai
manikapuram power supply projects in the Batticaloa district on November
18. The ministry had spent Rs.27 million on these schemes.
Uhana, Bandaraduwa, Padiyathalawa, Pulungasmula and Padiyathalawa
Kinamulla power projects will be vested with the public on November 19.
The ministry had spent over Rs.40,000 on these constructions and
projects will provide electricity to around 300 families.
The ministry had provided electricity to 70 percent in the Eastern
Province and all measures will be taken to complete all the projects in
Eastern Province in the near future,the minister said.
