A person who transported jak timber, eight and a half feet in
diameter and fourteen and half feet in length, without a licence was
arrested by the Ingiriya police in Menerigama, Koshena road, Kadugoda
area recently. The arrest was made on information received through the
119 operation unit.
Sports festival
The Sri Lanka Malay Youth Association has organized a sports festival
titled Malay Youth Sports Fest which will be held on November 20.
Cricket, netball, tap rugger, table tennis, carrom, pool and dart
matches will be held on this day. All Malay youths are invited to join
this event.
Religious programmes
Our Lady of Mount Carmel at Wellapalliaya, Hendala will hold
ceremonies to receive and conduct religious programmes to pay honour to
the relics of St John Bosco during the 24 hour stay at the church on
November 20.
The relics of the Saint taken to several countries will be brought to
Sri Lanka on November 19, giving recognition to five decade service of
the Salesians of Don Bosco. St Joseph's Vice Province of the Salesian
Congregation will receive the casket containing the relics at the
Bandaranaike International Airport on November 19, on arrival and will
be taken in procession to several parts of the country during 10-day
period beginning from November 20.
Christmas dinner
The Ladies' College Old Girls' Association will host their annual
Christmas dinner on December 5 at the Ramada Colombo. 'Silent Hands'
will entertain the audience with a hilarious skit.
The Police Brass Band will also perform with a mix of contemporary
and classical Christmas tunes.
