National Physical Plan handed over to President
The National Physical Plan which includes the project proposals for
Sri Lanka until 2030 was handed over to President Mahinda Rajapaksa
yesterday by Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common
Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa at the BMICH.
The ceremony was organized by the Construction, Engineering Services,
Housing and Common Amenities Ministry and the Symposium on the National
Physical Plan in parallel to the first anniversary of President Mahinda
Rajapaksa's assuming duties in his office for the second term.
The National Physical Plan was formulated to bring in massive
economic development and to achieve the targets of the Mahinda Chinthana
Future Vision.
The purpose of the document is to detail the plan and identify the
large scale projects for the next 20 years and beyond around the
country.
Such projects are listed to demonstrate to the public, potential
investors and donor agencies, the opportunities available in Sri Lanka.
Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Deputy
Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Secretary to the President Lalith
Weeratunga, National Physical Planning Department Director General
Lakshman Jayasekara also participated on the occasion.
