Frames TV wins international award

UDC Business Award 2011 presented “Asia’s Best TV Commercial Production Company of the Year 2011” award to Frames TV and Film Production Company recently.

Frames TV and Film Production Company Managing Director Shaman Premasundara receiving the award of “Asia’s Best TV Commercial Production Company of the Year 2011” from former Malaysia Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohomad at the UDC Business Award 2011 held in Malaysia.

Frames TV and Film Production Managing Director Shaman Premasundara, which is a reputed Sri Lankan based production house, received this award of Asia’s Best TV Commercial Production Company of the Year 2011 at the recently concluded ‘UDC Business Awards 2011’ awarding ceremony in Malaysia. The event, which was held in the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur was graced by guests of honour, former Prime Ministers of Malaysia Dr Mahathir Mohomad and Dr Siti Hasmah Haji Mohamed Ali.

Universo De’ Comercio (UDC) UK in collaboration with El Universo De’ Comercio, Malaysia is an international awards programme recognizing the success, innovation of all business leaders, companies and organizations across all industry sectors.

The UDC Business Awards draw entrepreneurs, business and community leaders from countries across Asia, Europe, USA, Oceania and the Middle East.

Business excellence in the international community while marking a historic milestone that heralds the entry of local film and TV production standards to the world contest. Owing to his vast experience, Frames TV and Film Production also played a major role in making of international film named Machang which directed by Italian Film Director Ubartho Pasalony.

Premasundara and UK-trained veteran artiste with over fifteen years experience as a commercial film director and film editor. His career has borne several technical firsts for the country.

Within five years of launching the company in 2006, Frames today not only occupies the pole position in Film and TV Commercial production in Sri Lanka by constantly lifting the bar for excellence in post production but also international recognition as the best in Asia, he noted.

Elephant House Ice Cream infuses creativity

Elephant House Ice Cream facilitated a challenge for the ‘Most Creative Ice Cream Corner’ at the recently concluded World Spice Food Festival 2011.

“The competition for the ‘Most Creative Ice Cream Corner’ was introduced as part of the hotel events category in a bid to enhance the creativity of industry professionals,” said Ceylon Cold Stores - Head of Frozen Confectionary, Neil Samarasinghe.

As an entity which works closely with the tourism industry Elephant House identified the importance of a public-private partnership to drive growth in the industry. “This is of critical importance since tourism is a flourishing industry in the country. Partnering with the Sri Lankan Tourism Board on the World Spice Festival 2011 was our way of contributing to the country’s goals,” Samarasinghe said.


Singer launches Lifestyle Fiesta, Trade Exhibition

Singer Sri Lanka will hold the company's inaugural Lifestyle Fiesta and Trade Exhibition from November 18 to 20 at the BMICH from 10 am to 8 pm. The mega event will be the culmination of an year during which Singer celebrated its 160 year heritage of providing Sri Lankan customers trusted excellence.

The Lifestyle Fiesta and Trade Exhibition will see the company exhibit the 'myriad 'brands that has made Singer's multi-brand retail strategy successful. Over 30 brands, most of them among the most valuable brands in the world - such as Philips, Samsung, Hitachi, Whirlpool, TCL, Prestige, Kenwood, Moulinex, Rowenta, Tefal, Zoje, Asus and Singer among them - will be featured at the Singer Lifestyle Fiesta and Trade Exhibition.

Speaking at the announcement, Singer Sales Director, Kumar Samarasinghe said, "In organizing of this event, our objective was to showcase the range of choices that are available for our customers via our retail network. Until now, we've not showcased the entire range under one roof."

This is the first time that the customers will get a chance to see the wide range of the products, models and brands that Singer has on offer.

The company will be putting forward special offers and attaching discounts to products, in some cases as much as 50%. Singer Marketing Director, Nasser Majeed speaking to Media said, "The timing of the Singer Lifestyle Fiesta and Trade Exhibition therefore represents the ideal opportunity considering the forthcoming budget, as well as for customers to begin their Christmas shopping for consumer durable items such as LCD and LED Televisions, Blu-ray players, DVD players, home theatre systems, notebooks, smart phones, tablets, digital cameras, fitness equipment and washing machines."

"In addition there will also be a comprehensive range of household furniture including imported leather and fabric sofas, as well as Singer's factory manufactured dining, bedroom and sitting room furniture sets and a delightful selection of children's furniture and display cabinets.'

In addition to Singer's own products and brands, a variety of consumer goods and services will also be displayed and sold.

These products will include garments, kitchenware, furniture, gardening equipment, mobile phones, broadband, banks, solar systems, books and magazines, fashion accessories, and toys.

The three day event will be characterized by a festive atmosphere as Singer has organized musical shows and other activities to make this a very eventful outing for the whole family.

Office Network launches Brother digital sewing machines

Office Network Pvt Ltd introduced Brother digital sewing machines to the local market at Cinnamon Grand Hotel recently. Office Network Pvt Ltd is a limited liability company incorporated in 1995 under the companies audience Act No 17 of 1982. They have been dealing with office automation products in local market and have won the ISO 9001:2008 quality certification standard.

In 2002 Office Network Pvt Ltd became the sole distributor for Brother office automation products such as facsimile communication equipment, laser printers, electric typewriters and label printers in Sri Lanka. Currently the company is on an expansion mode of adding new product lines. As a result of that they have now added the Brother sewing machine range and embroidery machines to their existing product line up.

“We introduce to Sri Lanka the most advanced sewing machine technology available in the world. So far, the local market got used to traditional sewing appliances. We will be able to change the traditional market by introducing new generation Brother digital sewing machines. Brother will be the choice of the new generation,” said Anuruddha Amarasekara, Assistant General Manager of Office Network Pvt Ltd.
