‘32 Sevanagala vehicles transferred to Daya Group’

UPFA parliamentarian Shantha Bandara raising a privilege matter in Parliament yesterday, said that 32 vehicles belonging to the Sevanagala Sugar Factory have been transferred to the Daya Group of Companies after the House passed the Revival of Underperforming Enterprises and Underutilized Assets Bill on Wednesday.

He said that the Supreme Court has also determined that this Act is not inconsistence with the country’s constitution and it was passed with amendments with a majority of 76 votes in Parliament on Wednesday.

The UPFA Parliamentarian said that the management has damaged the reputation and the dignity of judiciary and legislature by transferring vehicles from Sevanagala Sugar Company to Daya Group of Companies.

He called on Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa to take steps against this illegal transfer by the company management.
