STF arrests suspect with large cannabis stock

STF personnel attached to Suriyawewa arrested a suspect with 102.5 Kg of dried cannabis in a raid carried out in Kiula of Hambegamuwa in Thanamalvila Police area on Saturday morning.

On the directions of Hambantota area commander ASP Patric de Silva, Suriyawewa STF SI Jagath Kumara and a team apprehended A M Ajith Kumara ( 19) of Kiula, Suriyaara. The Police said the estimated value of the stock of cannabis was Rs 4,612,500. The suspect was handed over to Thanamalvila police for further investigations.

Meanwhile STF Headquarters Intelligence Unit arrested a person who was in possession of 18g and 730 mg of heroin at Bakery junction in Kolonnawa on the same day.

SI T U K B Gunawardana led the raid where they apprehended Rs 92,000 and a mobile phone with the suspect, A M Fowsil Ameer ( 36 ) of Vijaya Road, Kolonnawa . Colombo Anti Narcotic Bureau is investigating.
