Austasia at it again

Austasia International Sports & Leisure Complex, who introduced 'Indoor Cricket to Sri Lanka over a decade ago and hosted a very successful 'Indoor Cricket World Cup' in 2004 with Ceylon Indoor Cricket Association will be the trend-setters once again with yet another pioneering project in the field of Sports and Leisure.

This time the Sporting Innovators will partner Action Sports Private Limited, a Sports Management and Consultancy Company in Sri Lanka, to bring to life a 'Sports Fiesta that will include 8 Sporting disciplines and will be run over a period of 4 weeks commencing from the 14th of November 2011 Among the sporting facets include 3 new concepts of existing Sports that will be re-introduced by Austasia & Action Sports and they will continue as academies after the fiesta.

Touch rugby

They are: Indoor NetballIndoor Touch Rugby Indoor Footsall Whilst the outdoor versions of all these sports are extremely popular among Sri Lankans, it is a growing trend globally, where a large following has been witnessed to these indoor versions as it can be played 24hrs of the day, under any whether condition, with a shorter game-time, which is ideally fitting the requirement of the busy world.

No doubt

As such there is no doubt that these sports will gather momentum with the right support and awareness and Austasia together with Action Sports will extend the facilities and support to all relevant sports bodies to develop this version of sport in the country.

The intention is to generate sufficient interest in these sports and to develop national teams that will create an opportunity for Sri Lanka to be represented at global events such as the 'Indoor Netball World Cup is the firm belief of the Managing Director of Austasia International Sports & Leisure Complex, Ms Lalitha Anthony that this new concept to Sports and Recreation activities will allow many of our talented athletes, additional opportunities to represent the country and do proud to the country.

Badminton, Swimming, Squash, Karate, Six-a-side Cricket (Hard-ball) are the other sports that will be included as part of this inaugural 'Sports Fiesta, which is expect be a regular fixture at Thalawathugoda.

Over the next few weeks Austasia will be transformed into an absolutely buzzing atmosphere with over a 1500 athletes/ sportsperson competing in the various sporting disciplines.

New concept
