Police curfew in Karandeniya

A Police curfew was imposed yesterday at Karandeniya to bring the situation under control after people set fire to the residence and laboratory of one of the two suspects who were arrested in connection with the murder of a medical officer of the Borakanda Government Hospital in Karandeniya.

One dead, six injured in grenade attack

One person died in a hand grenade attack following a clash between two rival groups near the Delduwa School Wadduwa around 10.45 pm on Monday. The deceased was identified as D.W. Suranga Priyadarshana (28) of Delduwa Wadduwa.

Man nabbed with 4,750 mgs ganja

A suspect who had 4,750 milligrammes of ganja in his possession was arrested by officers of the Matara Police Fraud Bureau following a raid conducted in Talalla. He was produced in the Matara magistrate’s court. Meanwhile, 12 suspects were produced before Matara magistrate Udesh Ranatunga for possessing 28,855 milligrammes of ganja were fined Rs. 63,000.
