Hutch partners TransferTo
Hutch launched their innovative value added service 'TransferTo'
which will enable those living and working overseas to send instant
credit to Hutch users residing in Sri Lanka via SMS.
TransferTo works as an airtime remittance hub that interconnects
mobile operators' prepaid systems to deliver international top-up
services. This leading edge technology has been in the forefront of the
international and online top-up space and has been a market forerunner
since it began. With a global reach of over five continents, TransferTo
is a leader in international prepaid airtime remittances, and enables
real time prepaid top-up transfers to over 185 partner mobile network
operators in 70 countries, accessible to 3.6 billion prepaid users
worldwide. This widespread access will ensure that Hutch customers
across Sri Lanka have an easier, faster and cost effective way of being
connected with their family, friends and loved ones.
Through this partnership with TransferTo, Hutch adds a significant
value added service for their subscribers. Marketing General Manager
Sanjaya Senarath said: "We signed up for this service considering the
high percentage of Sri Lankan migrant workers abroad. If you take our
customer base at least 70 percent of them would have either a family
member or close friend residing overseas with some of these members
providing financial support to relatives back home. Therefore we decided
to establish a service that would assist this task even more - a
convenient method of paying for an essential part of everyday life -
mobile credit."
Hutchison Communications Lanka Ltd COO Anand Prakash said:
"Partnerships of this nature benefit both the customer as well as the
service provider. It is not only an innovative, convenient way to help
our customers to stay in touch but it also helps us to generate
additional revenue outside of our domestic market, which in turn helps
to boost the economy. We will continue to bring in newer and better
technology that not only helps our customers but would also give the
Company a leading edge in the services we provide" TransferTo's system
is simple and user friendly. Their airtime, which is also referred to as
top-up or recharge, are prepaid mobile credits that can be purchased
either at points of sale or in the form of scratch cards or printed
vouchers featuring a PIN number. Top ups can also be done via direct
real time reload to the prepaid phone.
TransferTo Founder and CEO Eric Barbier said: "We welcome Hutch Sri
Lanka to our international top-up network. With this connection, Sri
Lankans living abroad will have more choice as to what mobiles they can
recharge at home."
Dulux adds colour to life, community
The Global Colour Week conceived by the colourful people at AkzoNobel
was all about further discovering, what people know about colour, how we
use it and how they can add colour to people's lives.

motion of the hand. |
AkzoNobel believes that adding colour to the otherwise dull and
dreary spaces around can add a bit of optimism and can even change moods
and communities, putting smiles on people's faces and thus making Sri
Lanka and the world a colourful place.
Colour Week has now become a phenomenon of global proportions. It has
been transforming mundane looking neighbourhoods and buildings with an
explosion of colour.
And now Sri Lankans too will have a bit of colour added to their
lives.
During the colour week, AkzoNobel had lined up a host of events that
literally left a colourful and lasting impression on the lives of
communities and spaces that they touched. Beginning from the tenth and
ending on the 14 of October 2011 there were several events lined up.
AkzoNobel's the ambassadors of colour week began by having their
office premises in Colombo repainted with a gamut of vibrant colours.
Next a drawing competition was held at Tiny Stars Montessori
sponsored by the Dulux Child Protection Trust Fund. AkzoNobel Paints
Lanka Managing Director Gerald De Saram selected six winners who
received kid's computers for their efforts.
To reward their achievements these children are to have their
drawings grace the homes of people all over Sri Lanka and the world
during Christmas as one of the drawings will become the face of the
Christmas card for AkzoNobel in Sri Lanka this year.
All participants of the event received colourful gifts.
As the colour week progressed, the 13th of October, referred to as
colour your community day had the staff of AkzoNobel painting the walls
of a building at Granville Wickramarathna Memorial Children's Home,
Gonawala, adding the colour of hope to the lives of the people there.
Signalling the culmination of colour week, a cocktail 'all about
celebrating colour', was held at Park Street Mews.
A unique feature of the evening was that augmented reality displays
were used to demonstrate what AkzoNobel employees both locally and
worldwide had helped to achieve, together with the help of the local
communities.
