Deserters free of crime will be delisted - Army Commander

Army Commander Lt Gen Jagath Jayasuriya said the Sri Lanka Army has initiated a programme to delist deserters who have no involvement in crimes. He also stated that the programme will be introduced to remove the names of deserters who are not in a position to pay the necessary sum to get themselves released from the Army and who led crime free lives.

Rs 70 m Japanese grant for Northern demining

The Japanese government has extended an additional grant of Rs. 70 million for demining in the North through Delvon Assistance for Social Harmony Sri Lanka (DASH),a Sri Lankan Mine Action NGO,to expedite the efforts of the Sri Lankan government to achieve a mine-free Sri Lanka, said Japanese Ambassador Nobuhito Hobo.
