Tea production low in September

The total reported production of tea in Sri Lanka during the month of September 2011, amounted to 22,925,442 kg as against 25,605,784 kg, produced during the corresponding month in 2010. This shows a decrease of 2,680,342 kg or 10.5 percent, the Tea Board said. The total tea production during the period January to September 2011 amounted to 245,158,098 kg, as against 248,272,816 kg, produced during the corresponding period of 2010, shows a decrease of 3,114,718 kg or 1.3 percent.
