Air Asia to fly direct from Bangkok

For the first time Malaysia’s budget airline Air Asia is expected to commence direct flights from Thailand to Colombo next year. This will be from Thai Air Asia. The airline is a joint venture of Malaysian low-fare airline Air Asia and Thailand’s Asia Aviation. It serves Air Asia’s regularly scheduled domestic flights, domestic and international flights from Bangkok and other cities in Thailand.

Thai Air Asia is initially expected to operate two flights per week targeting the weekend traveller and the fare is expected to be at least 30 percent less from the current prices, sources said.

Thai Air Asia is the only low-cost airline operating both domestic and international flights from the Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Thai Air Asia launched domestic operations in February 2004.
