Police to trace suspect

Puttalam Police have deployed a special Police team to trace the suspect who robbed over Rs 1.7 million from a businessman in Puttalam.

According to investigations directed by Puttalam ASP T D Sugathapala and conducted by Puttalam Police OIC Chief Inspector V Sivagurunatha, the businessman had brought over Rs 30 million to be deposited at the Bank of Ceylon Puttalam branch.

While the businessman was entering the bank, a person had attempted to rob the bag containing the cash. The businessman had fought with the suspect and managed to salvage part of the cash.

When the people of the area attempted to catch the suspect he fled on a motorcycle, Police said.
