Navy Commander meets disabled personnel
A special welfare event was held as part of SLN’s ongoing welfare
project for naval personnel who are disabled in action at SLNS Gemunu in
Welisara on October 15 under the patronage of Navy Commander Vice
Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake. Navy Seva Vanitha Unit President Neluka
Dissanayake and senior naval officers were also present.
The Navy Commander commended the bravery of the naval personnel and
expressed his admiration for the heroic manner in which they served the
Motherland with the high ideal of “Country before Self” at a crucial
juncture in the country’s history.
Their laudable resole and firm determination to usher in long lasting
peace for all communities, will be remembered by the future generations
with gratitude. The Commander assured them that their welfare will
always be looked into with due reciprocity and their contributions to
uphold the Navy’s honour shall remain firmly etched in the SLNS annals
for others to emulate.
He further stated that measures have already been initiated to
construct a spacious home on a quiet location fully-equipped with
medical facilities for naval personal who are disabled in action.
The Navy Commander personally spoke to the invitees and listened to
their views and suggestions. He instructed the officials to attend to
the matters they had requested redress and to provide speedy solutions
at the earliest.
